Design & Technology

Class 7 found out that the wind played an important part in The Great Fire of London so we are going to design and make our own wind socks to test the wind direction in our school playground.

We started by trying out a very simple one, made from a bag and a stick. We took them outside to see if we could catch the wind! Next we are going to think about designing our own. Perhaps you've got some good ideas you could share with your child.

The children evaluated a variety of windsocks. They looked at various designs to give them ideas before they design their own.

They presented what they had found out to the others before they start on designing and making their own. Talk to your child so that they can share their ideas. You could even make your own at home.

Well done to the girls for going home and talking about their learning with their family. They have brought in things they will need to make their windsocks.

We used our design brief to make our own windsocks. Thank you to all of our parents for supporting your child by providing lots of interesting materials for the children to use.
