We have been learning all about materials - the different kinds of materials and their properties. We found that there are lots of different materials around us - in school and at home - and that materials have many different uses. We also researched how some materials are made and we were able to identify natural and man-made materials in our school garden.
During our Living Things topic, Steven Lewis Neil brought in lots of different animals for us to observe and find out about. We were very lucky to meet his turtle, mice and collection of mini-beasts. Some were so small that he had to use his microscope so that we could see them!
After his visit, we explored our school garden and identified the different mini-beasts that live there.
We discussed things that are alive, dead and have never been alive and carried out an investigation to see how camouflage helps animals to survive in their habitats.
