The fire starts!

The children watched as Mrs Wilkinson made a bonfire. They were very careful and didn't get too close. They watched as the paper and wood caught fire and changed as they burnt. They smelt the smoke as it blew around in the wind. When they came back in to class the children wrote some wonderful poems.

The Great Fire of Whitefield

Everything collected

Wood and paper laid

Matches struck!

Paper on the fire!

Wind blew

Fire spread

Flames danced

Bigger and bigger

Higher and higher

Smelly smoke

Rising up

Embers glowing

Wood has burnt, turned to charcoal

Snowy, white ash

Is all that’s left.

The Great Fire of Whitefield is OVER!!
