Once Upon a Time

This term the children are learning about different traditional tales.  We will be using The Gingerbread Man and Goldilocks and the Three Bears.

We have enjoyed baking Gingerbread men this half term. The children melted butter and syrup in a pan. They then enjoyed adding ginger and cinnamon and poured the mix into the flour. Once rolled into a ball the children then cut out the gingerbread and decorated them.

We have been working on our geographical mapping skills this half term. After going on a local walk to Victoria Park we noticed signs of Spring. The crocuses were growing and the leaves had started to grow back onto the branches. When we returned to school we mapped our journey around the park and commented on all of the different signs of Spring.

We have been sketching Spring flowers we saw at the park and completing observational drawings and paintings in our outdoor classroom.

We have been creating characters from our Traditional Tales using recycled materials. We have recreated the Gingerbread Man characters and created a story map using material to orally re-tell the story.

We celebrated World Book Day a few weeks ago on 2nd March 2023. We had a lovely day sharing our favourite stories from home with our friends. We completed lots of fun story activities and designed and decorated our own bookmarks.
