This half-term's topic was 'explorers'.
Our key text in English was The Great Explorer by Chris Judge. We also looked at another of his books, The Lonely Beast, in guided reading sessions. We looked at non-fiction texts and how they are structured and then practised using the contents, index and glossary pages to help us find information. This helped us with our history learning to find out about Captain Robert Falcon Scott and his final expedition to Antarctica and the South Pole.
In maths we learnt about multiplication, division and fractions - 1/2 and 1/4.
In geography, we studied the world's continents and oceans and 'materials' was our science topic.
We are grateful to Miss Smith who worked with us in our art lessons. The artist that we studied this half-term was Ted Harrison and we were very much inspired by his colourful landscapes and his representation of the Northern Lights.
We looked at the Christian story of Christmas in R.E, and the main events of Jesus' birth.
