Into the woods

This half term we are looking at Traditional Tales and we started our Literacy learning by researching and discussing the Traditional Tales we already know. This is what we found.

As a class we have been reading Little Red Riding Hood. After learning the story we got into character to retell the story through role play. This helped us to remember the story to write our own versions.

In our science learning we have been exploring materials and their properties. We went on a material hunt around school to see what things were made of. We found plastic, wood, metal, glass, fabric, and stone in our school environment.
This half term we have worked with our local artist Miss Smith. We took inspiration from the forest in Little Red Riding Hood and created our own 3D story boxes with a partner. We used a variety of art skills to create them such as sketching, shading, painting and textiles. We also created beasties to live in our forest using clay to sculpt them.
