Remembrance Day

School council sent a letter to all children asking for their help! We asked each child to make a special poppy to turn our school gardens into a field of poppies. We wrote a set of instructions to help children make their poppy.
We collected all the poppies from each child and planted them in our school garden with Mrs Mason.
During playtimes children spend time around our poppy garden thinking about people they would like to remember.
During collective worship we asked children to think about the meaning of peace and what peace means to us in our homes, school, community and world. We collected children's responses.

'Dress a tree' for Remembrance Day

We copied children's messages of peace onto strips of fabric and used them to 'dress a tree' in our school gardens. We worked in teams to prepare our messages and decorations in our school library then went outside to dress our tree.
