Celebrations
This half term in Class 3 we are learning all about different celebrations, our topic is called ‘Sparkle and Shine.’ We will be learning about Bonfire Night, Diwali, Eid, Birthdays, Weddings and Christmas!
We will be exploring these celebrations through the following key texts:
Meeting Father Christmas
The children had a wonderful Christmas party. They enjoyed lots of yummy food and played lots of different party games. They even got to meet a very special visitor ... Father Christmas. All the children have been so good that everyone got a present from him!
Our Christmas Craft Afternoon
Thank you to you all for attending our Christmas Craft afternoon. It was wonderful to see so many of you in Class and the children spending time and loved making things with you.
The First Christmas
The children have been learning all about the Christian festival, Christmas. We have been reading the story of the first Christmas. The children have re-told the story themselves. They dressed up as Mary, Joseph, the shepherds and the three Kings.
Weddings
The children shared their photographs of when they have attended family weddings. They had a fantastic time recreating weddings in the role play area. They even tried the drumming.
Birthdays
The children have been reading The Best Birthday Present Ever! by Ben Mantle. In the classroom, we've made party hats, wrapped presents, written birthday cards and held lots of parties!
Eid
The children have learnt about the Islamic festival of Eid. Mrs Farooq shared her special objects that Muslims use when they are praying. The children shared what their favourite thing about Eid was.
Diwali
The children have enjoyed learning all about the Hindu festival called Diwali. They made their own Rangoli patterns and made their own Diva lamps. The children learnt all about how this festival is celebrated.
Bonfire Night
The children have enjoyed learning all about Bonfire Night. We wrote simple poems, moved like fireworks and even made our own chocolate sparklers, which were yummy!
