Once upon a time ...
This half-term we are learning about different traditional tales. Our key texts are The Gingerbread Man and Goldilocks and the Three Bears.
A visit from Goldilocks
We recently had a visit from a very naughty, little girl ... Goldilocks! She made an awful mess in Class 3; she spilled porridge on the floor, she wrote her name on the easel and she tipped all the baskets out. We all had to help to tidy up the mess that she had made. Miss Whittaker asked Mr Wesley to check the cameras to see if she had been spotted!
Some of the children went to check the Forest School to see if she was hiding there. Goldilocks was not there, but she had made a mess in there too!
The children had a brilliant idea of setting a trap to catch Goldilocks just in case she tried to cause trouble again. We drew pictures of delicious food and added some real sweets to tempt her. Some children made posters, which we put around school, to warn everyone else and make sure they look out for Goldilocks.
A Spring walk to Victoria Park
In Class 3 we had a lovely walk to Victoria Park. The weather was sunny and it was a lovely Spring day. We went to the park to look for signs of Spring. We saw daffodils, pink and white blossom, crocuses and birds nesting in the trees.
In class we worked together to produce a large-scale map of all the different landmarks and flowers that we saw on our way to and at Victoria Park.
Making Gingerbread Men
The children had lots of fun making their own gingerbread men. They carefully followed the recipe and when the dough was ready we rolled it out with a rolling pin and then used a special cutter. Mrs Farooq put them in the oven for us. Thankfully none escaped!
The next day we were able to decorate our Gingerbread Men; we used icing and chocolate drops. We then got to eat them ... that was the best bit!
Our Ramadan Craft Afternoon
Thank you to you all for attending our Ramadan Craft afternoon. It was wonderful to see so many of you in class and the children enjoyed spending time and loved making the different crafts with you.
