Georgia O’Keeffe
We have been looking at the artist Georgia O’Keeffe who is famous for her close up art work of flowers. Linking with our ‘growth’ topic we have learnt about plants, identified their parts and began to sketch them in our artwork. We have been focusing on painting using different techniques and have experimented with colour mixing using the prime colours.
Vincent Van Gogh
We looked at Vincent Van Gogh’s painting of the ‘Bridge at Arles’ and linked it with our learning about the local area and Whitefield Bridge. We learnt about what bridges are used for and the shapes we can see. We went on a visit to our local bridge and created sketches focusing on the patterns we could see. We added water colour to bring our sketches to life!
Pablo Picasso
We have been learning about the artist Pablo Picasso. We have been talking about the colours he uses, the shapes we can see in his paintings and how they make us feel. We have linked it with our Science learning on the senses and have been using different techniques such as collage and sketching to create our own self portraits.
