Sparkle and Shine!
This half term our learning is all about celebrations! We will be learning about lots of celebrations and how different communities celebrate special times.
Diwali!
We have been looking at the core text 'Chapatti Moon' by Pippa Goodhart. We have learnt all about how Hinud's celebrate Diwali, listening to the story of Rama & Sita and we made our very own Diya lamps to celebrate the festival of light.
Birthdays!
We have been learning about birthdays and using the core text 'The Best Birthday Present Ever!' by Ben Mantle. We talked about what gifts we could buy Bear for his birthday and how to celebrate our birthdays. As part of learning about their own past the children brought in pictures of themselves as a baby, toddler and now on their birthdays and created a timeline. They talked about how they celebrated their birthdays in the past and what they would like to do for their next birthday.
This half term we have also been developing our balancing skills to help us ride a bike. We spent 3 days with an instructor from Go Velo who helped us learn to ride a balance bike and begin to ride a bike on two wheels. We had so much fun and enjoyed learning a new skill.
