This half-term we are learning about different traditional tales. Our key texts are The Gingerbread Man and Goldilocks and the Three Bears.
In Phonics the graphemes that we will be learning in this half term will be:

Please help your child consolidate these at home by reading the words in your red phonics Book.
Thank you :)
The Gingerbread Man
We have loved reading the story of 'The Gingerbread Man'. As part of our topic learning we have been baking Gingerbread Men biscuits. The children carefully weighed out the ingredients and watched closely as the ingredients changed into a dough. Then the children rolled out the dough and cut out their Gingerbread man before putting it into the oven to bake. Their favourite part was decorating their biscuits with icing pens, googly eyes and smarties. We loved how each Gingerbread Man was different and unique! We have also been recreating Gingerbread men in our indoor and outdoor classrooms.
Ramadan Parent Craft Afternoon
It was so lovely to see lots of parents attend our Ramadan craft afternoon. We had a busy afternoon creating lots of beautiful art work! Thank you to all parents who attended; we had such a great time seeing you all.
Pancake Day!
This week as part of our topic learning we talked about Shrove Tuesday and discussed that for Christians Shrove Tuesday marks the last day before Lent. We discussed how in the past, people gave up food like eggs, milk and sugar at Lent. Therefore the day before Lent began, they would use up all these foods by making pancakes. We explained that this why people eat pancakes on Pancake Day! We discussed this whilst decorating and tasting our own pancakes! We compared Lent to Ramadan.
Spring Walk
This week as part of our topic learning we visited Victoria Park to look for signs of spring. We saw many spring flowers such as daffodils, crocuses, blossom and lots of new buds growing on the bushes and trees. We heard birds singing and saw birds nests high up in the trees.
A Map of our Walk
After we came back from our spring walk we decided to create a map to show our journey and the different things that we saw along the way. We worked as part of a group to sequence the key landmarks that we saw and then recreated them using loose parts and resources from our indoor and outdoor classroom provision.
