This term the children are learning about different traditional tales. Our key texts are The Gingerbread Man and Goldilocks and the Three Bears.
A visit from Goldilocks
We recently had a visit from a very naughty, little girl ... Goldilocks! She made an awful mess in Class 3; she cut her hair, wrote her name on the board and tipped things out of the baskets onto the floor! We all had to help tidy up. Mrs Farooq even had to hoover the floor and it wasn't even 9 o'clock!
We decided we needed to trap Goldilocks and make sure she doesn't do something so naughty again.
We made a trap to hang over the door, we added sweets and lots of her favourite things. We even made a button that she could press for sweets! That was a trick though. When she pressed the button the trap would fall on top of her.
When we returned to class we noticed that Goldilocks had run away. Mrs Mason said that Mr Wesley had seen Goldilocks and taken her straight home to her Mummy. She promised that she would never do anything naughty again!
Working with Miss Smith
The children saw an image of a waterfall and wanted to find out more about them. We watched videos of Niagra Falls and Victoria Falls and listened to the sound of the water plummeting below.
We then worked with Miss Smith to produce different artwork about waterfalls and we enjoyed making our own in provision.
Our Spring Walk
This week we went on a very wet Spring walk to Victoria Park. We were looking for signs of seasonal change.
Making Gingerbread Biscuits
The children have had a fantastic first week back at school. As part of our key text The Gingerbread Man all the children made gingerbread biscuits. We followed the recipe and carefully measured out the ingredients. Once the dough was ready we rolled it out and used a cutter for the biscuits. We then decorated them with raisins and put them in the oven. Luckily none of them escaped!
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
