Our whole school summer project is called 'It's Up to Us!' which aims to develop our understanding of environmental issues affecting our planet. Class 2 are looking at how important it is to look after the bees and their crucial role of being pollinators for a wide variety of plants including many crops we rely on for food.
Our key texts this term are:
Phonics
In Phonics we will be consolidating our learning of phase 3 phonemes and will be focusing more on applying these in our writing:
ch, sh, th, ng, ai, ee, igh, oa, oo, ar, or, ur, ow, oi, ear, air, ure, er
We will also begin our phase 4 phonics learning. In phase 4 phonics we do not learn any new phonemes but develop our skills in blending and segmenting words with 4, 5 or 6 sounds often using our phase 3 knowledge too
e.g. t/r/ee/s s/t/air/s, m/u/n/ch/i/ng.
Please help your child consolidate this learning at home by reading the words in your red phonics Book.
Thank you :)
A Visit to Thornton Hall Farm
This week as part of our topic learning we visited Thornton Hall Farm. We got to see and feed many different animals. We talked about how to look farm animals and what we use them for in our daily lives. We met deer, cows, llamas, alpacas, goat, sheep, pigs, horses, cows, rabbits and guinea pigs. We had so much fun playing on the park, in the soft play area and on the jumping pillows too!
