English
Our core text this half-term is Man on the Moon (a day in the life of Bob), by Simon Bartram.
We will use the text to write character descriptions, persuasive adverts for a day trip to the moon, recounts in the role of Bob, and to inspire our own stories based on the plot. We are enjoying reading lots of other Simon Bartram books alongside our main text.

Maths
This half-term, we will cover place value, addition and subtraction, position and direction, multiplication and division, and time.
To show our place value knowledge, we will partition numbers in different ways, compare numbers using <, > and = signs, and represent numbers on number lines. We will anpply our knowledge of the four operations to solve problems in real-life contexts. We will use our understanding of fractions and time to help us understand 1/4, 1/2 and 3/4 turns, clockwise and anti-clockwise.
Geography
Linking our learning in geography to our 'flight' topic, we compared where we live to Nelson in Canada.
We researched, and compared the human and physical features found in each area, discussing the similarities and differences.

Design Technology
This half term, we are investigating wheels and axles, and designing and making a moon buggy. We will explore existing products by investigating toy vehicles and learn about their different parts. We will then investigate the different ways of joining wheels, axle-holders and axles to a chassis, before designing our own moon buggies. After constructing our vehicles, we will evaluate them against the design criteria.
R.E
In R.E this half term, we will study Christianity and how the Christian community is united. We will look at symbols used to reflect beliefs and values, and how churches and cathedrals are designed. We will explore how the different parts of a church are used during worship, and design and built our own church models.
We will look at the different communities that we belong to and discuss why they matter to us.
