English
Our core text this half-term is Man on the Moon (a day in the life of Bob), by Simon Bartram.
We will use the text to write character and setting descriptions, write recounts in the role of Bob, and to inspire our own stories based on the plot.
Science
This half term we will be learning about plants. We will start our topic by revisiting what we learnt in Year 1, showing what we already know about plants. We will plant seeds and observe how they grow and change over time, testing how plants grow depending on variable conditions. We will then learn more about the different parts of plants and their functions.
We also went on a minibeast hunt in forest school to look for different micro-habitats. We collected data and recorded what we found. We talked about the features of different micro-habitats and why different minibeasts are suited to them.
Geography
In Geography this half term we will compare where we live to Nelson in Canada. We will research and compare the human and physical features found in each area, discussing the similarities and differences.

We will problem solve when we are building. Then we will explore wheels, axles and axle holders. This will help us create a design for our Moon Buggy. We will then create our design and evaluate our finished product.

We will look at the different communities that we belong to and discuss why they matter to us.
