Our core text this half term is 'Clean Up!' by Nathan Bryon
We started our learning inspired by Sue Lipscombe a 3D sculpture artist who created a whale sculpture using plastic bottles to highlight the importance of plastic pollution. We looked carefully at the lines and shapes in a whales tail.
We have been learning about multiplication in maths and used our outdoor classroom to create arrays to help us with our calculations.
We used our DT skills and created 3D turtles using a paper plate and masking tape before carefully painting them.
We were saddened to find out about the amount of litter in the oceans and created a piece of artwork to highlight the issue of ocean plastic pollution.
We worked collaboratively with some children from nursery to create our own 3D sculpture in the style of Sue Lipscombe in the playground.
We went on a trip to St Annes beach to do a litter pick and learn about the impact plastic and litter has on the beach. We also had time for a few games and had fun building sandcastles on the beach.
The process of creating our very own whales tail. We used paper and masking tape to create a 3D effect before using our painting skills to finish the sculpture.
As part of our learning we used out DT skills to plan and design a healthy fruit snack. We enjoyed cutting and chopping to make our fruit kebabs. We enjoyed eating them after. They were delicious.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
