What If?

This half term we are studying the author Jan Fearnley. Our key texts are 'Mr Wolf and the Three Bears' and 'Mr Wolf's Pancakes'. Our end point is to write our own innovated story based on Jan Fearnley's alternative traditional tales.

In P.E we are doing gymnastics. We began by practising a 4 point balance thinking about having control and showing extension. Then we made a routine by performing 3 balances.

In art we began by looking at the work of William Morris. We used viewfinders to look at small details in William Morris’ work and we sketched what we could see.

This half term we will be working with Lancashire Cricket to develop our cricket skills. We began by practicing our throwing and catching skills.

This week in P.E we explored 3 point balances and made a routine to share with the class.

We did some observational drawing using flowers and leaves. We looked closely at the details we could see and used shading to add these to our drawings.

In science we classified animals into different groups. We sorted them into mammals, reptiles, amphibians, birds, fish and insects. We thought about the different features of each group.

In our second week of cricket, we continued to develop our throwing and catching skills and also began to work on our bowling. We practised bowling by trying to hit a stump.

In music we are working with Mrs Brunton and exploring rock music. We are going to perform the song ‘I wanna play in a band.’ We have practised singing the song and also started to play instruments in time to the music.

In maths we explored money. We partitioned amounts into different coins using part whole models. We explored making different amounts using different coins.

We practised our batting skills this week in cricket!
