This half term our core text is 'The Great Explorer' by Chris Judge. We will also be reading 'The Lonely Beast' by Chris Judge during our guided reading sessions.
In science we are learning all about materials and their uses. We went on a material hunt around school and added our photos to SeeSaw
In DT we are going to be designing and making a bag for an explorer. We began by looking at a range of bags and discussing what materials they were made out of. We also looked at how the bags fasten, how they are joined together and who might use them.
In P.E we are developing our football skills. We practised dribbling the ball and kicking the ball. We also practised being a defender!
As part of the Building Bridges project we visited Colne Muni Theatre to meet our friends from Sacred Heart. We took part in lots of team building games and activities like singing, dancing, drama, crafts and a treasure hunt. We had a fantastic time meeting new friends and we can't wait to see them again soon!
In D.T we practised our joining techniques ready to make our bags. We practised sewing, stapling, and using glue. We decided which technique we would use on our final product.
We enjoyed a fantastic trip to Outdoor Elements. We took part in lots of activities linked to our topic of explorers and survival skills! We made shelters, cooked bread on a campfire and took part in problem solving games.
In science we did an investigation to see which materials were waterproof and best to make a tent out of.
We printed a pattern onto our bags and then joined the material by either sewing or stapling.
Look at our finished products!
We had a fantastic time at our Christmas Craft afternoon with our families! We made lots of lovely things and enjoyed spending time together.
We used drama to act out Captain Scott's expedition to the South Pole. We thought about how he would be feeling at different points in his journey. We used this drama to help us write a diary entry for Captain Scott.
Year 2 did an assembly to show what we have learnt about in R.E this half term. We told the Christmas story and talked about what Christians believe happened on the first Christmas.
We had a fantastic time at our Christmas party. We have been so good that we had a special visitor who brought us a present each!
