This half term we will be working on the whole school project 'Every Hat Tells a Story'. Mrs Graham and Mrs Ahmed chose a red hat! We brainstormed ideas as a class and all agreed that the hat reminds us of Paddington! He will inspire our learning this half term and we will be using the story by Michael Bond as our core text.
In art we began by sketching Paddington. We thought about our use of line to add detail to the character and then we added colour using water colours.
We learnt about landmarks that Paddington might see in London and sketched a city skyline.
We explored traditional Peruvian Folk art. We looked at the use of line and shape to create our own pieces of art and added colour using chalk pastels.
We enjoyed a visit from Mr Steve to help us with our science learning. We used our forest school area to look for plants, bugs, life cycles, micro habitats and food chains. We had lots of fun and developed our scientific enquiry skills. We also revisited some of our favourite activities that we have done during our time at Whitefield when we have worked with Mr Steve.
We looked at the rainbow mountains in Peru. We sketched the mountains and used oil pastels to add the famous colours.
