Growth!

Our core text this half term is The Bog Baby by Jeanne Willis.

Welcome to the summer term! We hope you enjoyed the Easter break and that you had chance to spend some much needed time with friends and family.

This half term our topic is 'Growth'. We will be engaging in a variety of learning experiences to develop our knowledge and understanding of growth in the natural environment.

In science we have been learning about the lifecycle of a seed and what a plant needs to grow. We’ve planted our own sunflower seeds so we can observe the changes over time.

We started our topic by making our very own bog babies before writing a list of nouns and adjectives to describe them. We then used our new vocabulary to write a character description of our bog baby.

In art we are learning about the life and art of American artist Georgia O’Keefe. We have looked closely at her flower artwork exploring the lines, shapes and colours she used. We looked at the close up detail she used.

As part of our geography learning we went on a local walk to Victoria Park. When we got their we conducted a fieldwork study of the human and physical features of our local environment.

This half term in music we are working with our music teacher Mrs Brunton. We are learning to sing the song ‘your imagination’ and using percussion instruments to play alongside it.
