Every Hat Tells a Story
Our whole-school project this year is Every Hat Tells a Story. During a special assembly, each class was invited to choose a hat to inspire their learning journey for the term. Class 4 chose a pilot hat, which inspired us to travel around the world and learn about the Seven Wonders of the World.
As we learnt about each of the seven wonders as part of our art learning we looked at the famous landmarks. We focused on the lines and shapes that we could see before sketching them and using different pencils to add definition through shading.
We then looked at the different colours that reminded us of the countries the landmarks were in. We used different media to create a background for our silhouettes.
As part of our history learning we learnt about famous pilot Amelia Earhart. We learnt about who she was and why she was significant. We were truly inspired by her.
In science we investigated different gliders to see which travelled the furthest. We made and tested an aeroplane, a glider and a helicopter.
